Just to be clear, I am not bitchin, complaning, or whining. just a simple curiosity question about the height of the finish line beams at all tracks. I know that IHRA rules state they have to fall between a certain measurment, but why are they higher at the finish than at the starting line? any reason or rationality behind this?

HERE IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD! START LINE IS 1.25" OFF THE GROUND, YOU STAGE THE CAR WITH THE TIRES. THE 60' LITE IS 10"HIGH BECAUSE SOME CARS FRONT TIRES ARE STILL OFF THE GROUND. THE FINISH LINE LITE IS 5"ABOVE THE TRACK BECAUSE NOSE OF CAR IS RAISED DURING HARD EXCELERATION. THAT IS WHY SOME PEOPLE WITH CARS THAT SIT ABOVE 5"USE A FRONT END TRIGGER DEVICE. IHRA RULES SAY YOU MUST STAGE THE CAR WITH THE TIRES AND FINISH WITH THE NOSE OF THE CAR. YOU CAN NOT USE THE DEVICE TO EXTEND BEYONE THE FRONT OF YOUR CAR AND IT MUST BE 3" ABOVE THE GROUND.
